Quick answer
Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year). A $52,000 salary at 40 hours for 52 weeks is $25.00 an hour, or $4,333.33 a month and $2,000 biweekly.
Enter the annual salary, hours per week and weeks per year. The calculator returns hourly, monthly and biweekly pay.

Worked examples
These examples are verified: each one is an automated test case that the live calculator must reproduce exactly.
Example 1
Inputs: Annual salary = 52000; Hours per week = 40; Weeks per year = 52.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Hourly rate | $25.00 |
| Monthly | $4,333.33 |
| Biweekly | $2,000.00 |
Example 2
Inputs: Annual salary = 75000; Hours per week = 40; Weeks per year = 52.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Hourly rate | $36.06 |
| Monthly | $6,250.00 |
| Biweekly | $2,884.62 |
The first line is the headline result (hourly rate). Below it the salary to Hourly Calculator lists monthly and biweekly, which describe the same case from other angles. IEEE-754 double precision; money shown to cents, rates to 4 decimals. Results are estimates, not financial advice.
The 2,080 convention
40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 working hours a year. Dividing $52,000 by 2,080 gives $25. If you take two unpaid weeks, using 50 weeks gives $26 an hour, because the same pay covers fewer hours.
Gross figures
The result is gross, before tax and deductions. Paid holidays and vacation are normally built into the salary, so a 52-week year is the usual basis. Salaried staff who work longer hours have a lower effective hourly rate.
How the result changes with annual salary
Holding every other input at the first worked example, this table changes only annual salary. It shows how sensitive the answer is to that one value; each row was produced by running this calculator.
| Annual salary | Hourly rate | Monthly | Biweekly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 26000 | $12.50 | $2,166.67 | $1,000.00 |
| 52000 | $25.00 | $4,333.33 | $2,000.00 |
| 104000 | $50.00 | $8,666.67 | $4,000.00 |
| 208000 | $100.00 | $17,333.33 | $8,000.00 |
What happens with invalid input
These messages are produced by the calculator itself, so you know what to fix.
- Weeks per year: entering "0" shows "Weeks per year must be greater than 0." beside that field and no result.

Background: personal finance estimates
Financial calculators project from the numbers you give them. Long-range tools depend on guesses about returns and tax rates that are unlikely to hold exactly, payoff tools assume a fixed payment and rate, and tax or salary results depend on the tax year, filing status and country. Official calculators say their output is for reference only.
For decisions that matter, use conservative inputs and check the figures against your lender, plan documents or a qualified adviser.
Assumptions and limitations
- Gross figures
Results are estimates for planning, not financial advice. Lender terms, fees, taxes and rounding rules can change real figures, so confirm important numbers with your lender or a licensed adviser.
If a required value is empty, not a number, or outside its allowed range, the form marks that field with a message and shows no result instead of a misleading number. The automated checks deliberately try invalid entries for weeks per year to confirm this.
