Quick answer
Daily saving = (goal − already saved) ÷ days. To reach $1,000 in 60 days with $150 saved, put away $14.17 a day, with $850 still to save.
Enter your goal, what you have saved and how many days you have. The calculator returns the daily amount and what is left. It shows the daily savings needed to hit a goal by a date.

Worked examples
These examples are verified: each one is an automated test case that the live calculator must reproduce exactly.
Example 1
Inputs: Savings goal = 1000; Already saved = 150; Days to reach the goal = 60.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Save per day | $14.17 |
| Still to save | $850.00 |
Example 2
Inputs: Savings goal = 5000; Already saved = 0; Days to reach the goal = 365.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Save per day | $13.70 |
| Still to save | $5,000.00 |
Example 3
Inputs: Savings goal = 300; Already saved = 300; Days to reach the goal = 10.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Save per day | $0.00 |
| Still to save | $0.00 |
The first line is the headline result (save per day). Below it the daily Savings Calculator lists still to save, which describe the same case from other angles. IEEE-754 double precision; shown to the decimals indicated.
Turning daily into weekly
$14.17 a day is about $99.17 a week (850 ÷ 60 × 7). If you can only save on paydays, multiply by the days between paydays: 14 days is about $198.33 per paycheck.
What it ignores
Interest is not included. At a savings rate of 4% over 60 days on a growing balance, interest adds only a few dollars, which is why the plain division is a close planning figure.
How the result changes with savings goal
Holding every other input at the first worked example, this table changes only savings goal. It shows how sensitive the answer is to that one value; each row was produced by running this calculator.
| Savings goal | Save per day | Still to save |
|---|---|---|
| 500 | $5.83 | $350.00 |
| 1000 | $14.17 | $850.00 |
| 2000 | $30.83 | $1,850.00 |
| 4000 | $64.17 | $3,850.00 |
What happens with invalid input
These messages are produced by the calculator itself, so you know what to fix.
- Savings goal: entering "0" shows "Savings goal must be greater than 0." beside that field and no result.
- Days to reach the goal: entering "0" shows "Days to reach the goal must be greater than 0." beside that field and no result.

Assumptions and limitations
- Zero if already reached
If a required value is empty, not a number, or outside its allowed range, the form marks that field with a message and shows no result instead of a misleading number. The automated checks deliberately try invalid entries for savings goal and days to reach the goal to confirm this.
