Working days = weekdays (Monday to Friday) in the month − public holidays. March 2025 has 21 weekdays and 10 weekend days, so 21 working days with no holidays.
Enter the year and month. The calculator returns weekdays and weekend days. Use this monthly working days calculator to check your own figures.

Formula and method
Formula
working days = weekdays (Mon–Fri) − holidays
IEEE-754 double precision; shown to the decimals indicated.
Public holidays differ by place, so enter how many fall on weekdays.
Worked examples
These examples are verified: each one is an automated test case that the live calculator must reproduce exactly.
Example 1
Inputs: Year = 2025; Month (1–12) = 3.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Working days | 21 |
| Weekend days | 10 |
Example 2
Inputs: Year = 2024; Month (1–12) = 2; Weekday holidays to subtract = 1.
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Working days | 20 |
| Weekend days | 8 |
The first line is the headline result (working days). Below it the monthly Working Days Calculator lists weekend days, which describe the same case from other angles. IEEE-754 double precision; shown to the decimals indicated.
How the count works
March 2025 has 31 days and starts on a Saturday, so it contains 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays: 10 weekend days and 31 − 10 = 21 weekdays. A month always has 20 to 23 weekdays.
Holidays
Subtract public holidays that fall on weekdays for your country; ones that fall on weekends should not be subtracted twice. The result counts calendar days only and does not know regional or company holidays.
How the result changes with month
Holding every other input at the first worked example, this table changes only month. It shows how sensitive the answer is to that one value; each row was produced by running this calculator.
| Month | Working days | Weekend days |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 20 | 8 |
| 3 | 21 | 10 |
| 6 | 21 | 9 |
| 12 | 23 | 8 |
What happens with invalid input
These messages are produced by the calculator itself, so you know what to fix.
- Month (1–12): entering "13" shows "Month (1–12) must be at most 12." beside that field and no result.
- Weekday holidays to subtract: entering "-1" shows "Weekday holidays to subtract must be at least 0." beside that field and no result.

Background: business metrics
Business ratios depend on exactly which costs and revenues you include, so read each page's definition. Two common checks: break-even units = fixed costs ÷ (price − variable cost per unit), so $50,000 of fixed costs with a $10 price and $5 variable cost breaks even at 10,000 units; and net profit margin = net profit ÷ revenue, so $20,000 profit on $100,000 revenue is 20%.
Return on investment ignores time: 20% over five years is far less impressive than 20% in one, so compare returns over the same period.
Assumptions and limitations
- Holidays on weekends should not be counted
If a required value is empty, not a number, or outside its allowed range, the form marks that field with a message and shows no result instead of a misleading number. The automated checks deliberately try invalid entries for month (1–12) and weekday holidays to subtract to confirm this.
